.. was the time frame for Sebastian Liedke, his "Sebastian Liedke Trio" and me to record and mix his album "Zeitenwende", as he initially wanted to submit it to a contest of a festival.

In the end the outcome was a whole album. It wasn't exactly easy as the time was short, so we had to record the piano in a conference room together with the instruments with only 8 tracks.

As a remedy for the challenging acoustics of the room we used all the movable walls the studios in the building had and even used a molleton covered table to isolate the bass as much as possible. All in all pretty unusual for a jazz recording - but it still worked.

The trio consists of Sebastian Liedke (doublebass), Lucia Martinez (drums) and Felix Otterbeck (piano). So the 8 tracks we had were split intro 5 drum tracks, a stereo track for the piano and one track for the bass. From Neumann to schoeps and brauner sundry microphones were in use.

All six tracks were recorded on one single day and rough mixed for the festival right afterwards. Sebastian then made the final mixes on the following days and I finished them and made a mastering together with my colleague Armin Scholz.

The result can be found and heard here:
